Neptun Boot began its operations in 1977, supplying the agriculture and general industry with a range of superior quality PVC gumboots that are manufactured from locally produced PVC compounds. Over the years, we have expanded our product offerings to include the mining and food processing industries. At the core of our business is our commitment to supplying our clients with exceptional service and superior products. Neptun Boot has fused years of expertise with advanced technology to deliver innovations on our products. Neptun Boot has various patents in place. The Metaguard patents and the integrated metatarsal gumboot, Stimela XP patent. Neptun Boot currently employs about 180 people. We are committed to skills development and currently have two employee apprentices. The company has an Employment Equity and Training Committee and is registered with the Department of Labour for the submission of Employment Equity Reporting. Our BBEEE rating is a Level 5 and we are a Value Added Supplier. Neptun Boot is committed to social responsibility and contributes substantially to several charities every year. The company is a member of SAFLIA (South African Footwear and Leather Industries Association) and also belong to the Bargaining Council for the Footwear and Leather Industries. Unions represented in the Neptun workplace are SACTWU and NULAW. There are 2 divisions within Neptun Boot. Firstly the PVC gumboot division and secondly, the PU safety shoes division. There are 2 brands in the PVC family of gumboots. The Neptun brand of general purpose boots which range from kids to ladies, fashion and men's agricultural / food industry boots, and the Shosholoza brand of mining gumboots. Neptun has a licence agreement to apply and use the Shosholoza brand in South Africa. The Shosholoza brand of mining gumboots has become a bench mark gumboot in Southern Africa and Australasia due to its superior quality, endurance, comfort and safety features. It also offers patented metatarsal protection. Stimela branded mining boots are only sold in the offshore markets. The PU division comprises of the Strident brand of PU dual density safety boots and Combat boots. These boots are fully ISO certified for International sales. Neptun Boot utilises local compound manufacturers, as well as imports superior grades of PVC for re-export to Europe. Cartons, sock linings and various other raw materials are all sourced locally. Steel toe caps and steel mid-soles are imported. Neptun in conjunction with the mining industry and Potch Plastics have a ?cradle to grave? recycling agreement to ensure correct environmental recycling procedures are employed. PVC is recyclable and forms a considerable part of the business. Neptun has an in-house Quality Management System controlling production and currently has permits to apply the following certifications: SANS 20345 SANS 20347 AS/NZS 2210.3 ISO EN 20345:2011 Neptun has won the prestigious DISA AWARD (Design Institute South Africa) in 2007 for the Shosholoza gumboot in the Mining and Industrial Category. This gave us the right to use the DISA logo in advertising and promotional material. Neptun Boot advertises extensively at Mining shows and exhibitions to promote the company and brands, servicing the industry vigorously to maintain continuous supply. Neptun Boot has an office in Johannesburg comprising of a sales manager and 3 reps that are based there to call on and service the mining territories of Southern Africa.
